Last Saturday the size of the field was an indication of the horrible day that it was with only 29 players teeing off in the Danny Lyons Sports Store single stableford event. Cold blustery winds and very icy conditions made the greens quicker after some rolling during the week and the only player not badly affected was early starter John Brandon. John cleared out having 40 points which was 4 shots better than his nearest rival so he was a big winner. Rod Hansen had 36 points to be the runner up while Phil Economidis had 35. Bert Bownds and Mal Galloway both had 34 to complete the ball run down. In the pro pin on 13 Slim Eldridge won himself 7 balls while Evan Pfeffer won 2 and Keiran Delaney won one ball much to the delight of his playing group who celebrated his successful birdie putt as if it was the U.S. Open thanks to group member Rick Mills. Justin Sneath won the NTP on 11 while Mark Thomas won the 16th. A much brighter and warmer day greeted a big field on Sunday for the Elders Insurance 2 ball ambrose. Many thanks to Warren and the team from Elders Insurance who have supported this day at the club for a few years now. The big winners on the day were club champion Kris McLennan and his partner Darcy who recorded an excellent 59 nett. Liz and Eamon Cockram won the mixed division while Sam Hinze and Michelle Wright were the successful women's team. Next Saturday members play in the King Street Mechanical stableford event so thanks to Jon Pearson and his team for their sponsorship of the day.
