Last Saturday members played a flag event which is effectively a stroke event and the trophy for same was provided by an excellent supporter of the club in Danny Lyons Sports.
Many thanks to Danny for his ongoing support of the club.
The winner on the day was first time competition player Travis Payne. Travis certainly made a mess of the field not just winning but winning by a wide margin scoring a wonderful 63 net which was 5 shots in front of his nearest competitor. James Buchner was the winner of the runner up voucher with 68 nett.
Welcome to the club competition Travis. An excellent effort to win at your first start in competition play and hopefully the start of an excellent career in golf at the Warwick Golf Club.
Don't be too surprised next time you line up for the competition with a savage handicap reduction from 26 to 17.8.
The ball rundown saw Gary Millard, Adam Hart and Peter Gribbin all on 69 with Garry Adcock and Don Stewart both on 71 and Derrick Hewitt the best of the 72's winning the final rundown ball.
The Pro Pin on 13 saw Justin Sneath win 5 balls, William Martin 4, Keith Clarke 3 and Gary Millard 2 balls.
The NTP on 5 went to Wayne Walters while Peter Millard set the pace very early on the 7th and it lasted all day. Geoff Hinze won the 9th while Ted King won the 11th and Peter Gribbin rounded out a good day winning the 16th pin.
There were a number of visitors in the field with players from Toowoomba and Kilcoy making up the field of 58 players.
Next Saturday members play the John Dee Monthly Medal on Saturday while on Sunday we have the only mixed match play competition in the club with the qualifying round of the Lane Cup played on Sunday and the top eight pairs are going to qualify for the match play portion of that honour board event.
