Last Saturday 43 members played in the single stableford event sponsored by BNW Accountants to whom the club and members are indebted for your support.
Having his best round for some time Ian Stewart returned to the winners list with 39 points. "Stew" had 18 points on the front nine but really let go on the back nine to have 16 points from 10 thru 15 and although he started to struggle with only a point each on the last three holes, he finished on 39 which was one better than runner up Evan Pfeffer.
Evan has been playing very well of late and continued that good form to win the runner up voucher. Trevor King returned 36 points while Daniel Bowles had 35 as did Cameron Peterson, an 8 marker from Emerald lakes Club. Scott McLennan was the best of the 34's to win the last run down ball.
Sam McLennan had a good day on the short holes winning the NTP on both the 5th and 7th as well as three balls in the pro pin on 13. Trevor King won the 9th, Peter Balfour the 11th and Wayne Watt the 16th. Eddy Raets won 5 balls in the pro pin while father and son team Ross and Steve Bell battled out the last positions with Steven winning 2 balls as well as bragging rights and Ross won the final ball.
Danny Lyons Sports is the sponsor for the event next Saturday which is a flag event. For the uninitiated, that means that you play out a stroke round until the 18th hole and if you have any shots left in your handicap after holing out there, you proceed down the 1st until you run out of shots. There will be a flag somewhere down the 1st or even the 2nd if somebody has gone that well and if your last shot is further on, you pick up that flag and place it where your last shot finishes.
The committee has conducted their interview process for the new greenkeeper. Shane McDonnell has been appointed and will take up duties in the near future. Shane has previously worked as the greenkeeper at Moss Vale Golf Club, Camden Golf Club and more recently Yeppoon Golf Club and is sure to be an asset at the Warwick Golf Club when he arrives here with his wife and young child in the near future.
