Last Saturday Jon Pearson from King Street Mechanical provided the trophies for the SS -v- Par event at the Warwick Golf Club and the committee and members thank Jon for his support of the Club. 40 players enjoyed a perfect day albeit a little cool late in the day on an excellently presented course. The winner on the day was early starter Evan Pfeffer who was out before some others were out of bed but undeterred by a heavy dew Evan complied a +2 score to win the event on a countback from late finisher Kerrin Delaney who was in the next to last group. Kerrin had a +3 score for the front nine and was well on target for a victory but had a couple of ordinary holes late in the round and had to be content with the runner up voucher. The run-down saw Phil McEvoy on +1, Rhys Farrell on -1 along with Michael Watt and Mitch McLennan on -2 winning the last run-down spot. The nearest the pin shot on 7 saw Mal Galloway win with the 9th going to Adam Hart, the 11th to Michael Hoskin and the 16th to Rhys Farrell who is obviously handling his 1 handicap well enough. The pro pin on 13 saw Ray Dudley collect 4 balls, Eddie Kemp 3, Doug Wilson 2 while Darrell Bain and Keith Clarke collected a ball each. Normal transmission has resumed with the names Hoskin and Wilson collecting balls for excellent shots. Next Saturday members play a single stableford for a trophy kindly provided by BNW Accountants. Members are reminded that 1st round matches in the Matchplay championships are to be finalised by next Sunday. Thirty two members enjoyed a couple of days at the Palm Meadows course on the Gold Coast last week and while the course was in good condition all that played agreed that the greens in particular here at Warwick are certainly superior to those championship greens so again, congratulations to all responsible for their presentation each week. Shane Scotney playing off 10 certainly cleaned up at the Coast winning on both days with 38 points on the first day and 41 on the second day.
