Warwick Women’s Golf Notes 10/5/21
Last Wednesday, unfortunately our 9 and 18 hole competitions were washed out, but 6 of our ladies, Janine Stewart, Jill Barnes, Anne Lyons, Mary Young, Yvonne Pinington and Marg Adcock travelled to Goombungee where they were able to play in Goombungee’s Open Day in between showers. Marg did a fine job picking the team for Zone Pennants with Mary and Anne scoring well on the day and gaining maximum points of 8 for the day. They returned home tired and with plenty of wet gear to be dried out!
On Saturday the men joined us playing the red course, learning that it really isn’t as easy as we make it look. It was great to see so many donning their pink gear to raise funds for the Cancer Council. Congratulations to our winners, all with 37 points, Scott McLennan (overall), Jan Byrne (ladies) and Michael Watt (men). Jamie Ollerton, 19 points and Sam Hinze, 18 points took out the front nines and Slim Eldridge, 21 points and Anne Lyons 20 points were our back nine winners. Our pins went to Melanie McLennan on the 5th and Marg Adcock on the 11th (with a nice birdie and gobble!) and Yvonne Pinington was happy Connor suggested she enter the Pro Pin taking home 3 balls and Marg 2 on the 16th. Balls in the rundown went to Paddy O’Dea, Molly Scotney, Dave Speedy, Gordon Cooper and Sam McLennan. Thanks to Trish and Ross Bell for sponsoring the day as well as those who donated items to the raffle, both the ladies and mens committees and those who played and supported the day to help raise funds and awareness for the Cancer Council. The final count for the day was a tremendous $1412 which is such a credit to all those involved, thank you and well done.
On Wednesday the 12th we play our Mid-Week Medal with thanks to the Warwick RSL and next Saturday is a Flag Event, courtesy of Rose City Premium Meats.
Don’t forget that Tuesday the 18th is our annual Warwick Open Day. Please add your name to the list in the ladies room or let Ros know if you’d like to play. We’d love to see as many of you as possible playing and catching up with friends from around our district.
