Warwick Women’s Golf Notes 170521
Again the rain played havoc with our Wednesday competition last week. The afternoon players were caught in a storm and had to return to the Clubhouse before they could finish their round. As a result, the May Mid Week Medal did not have enough players and will be considered a washout for this month. So the 8 ladies who completed their morning games played a stroke event courtesy of Red Rooster. Di Macdonald won the voucher with 77 nett on a countback from Tub Ingall who received one ball as did Lyn McKillop and Annice Payne both with 81. Other scores were Melanie McLennan 83, Diane Johnston 86, Trish Bell 88 and Judy Lester 92.
On Saturday sadly another small field to play the Single Stroke Flag Event. Jill Barnes had a lovely round to finish in the hole on the 18th green with a 70 nett. She was very thankful to receive the trophy of the day from Rose City Premium Meats. Close behind and the recipient of 2 balls was Yvonne Pinington with 72 nett. The rundown balls went to Tub Ingall, Marg Adcock and Annice Payne all with 74 along with Judy Lester 77. Other scores for the day were Mary Young, Janet Davis 79, Michelle Wright 81 and Helen Olsen 85. Marg Adcock won the solo Pro Pin ball.
Results for our Open Day held on Tuesday the 18th will be available next week. Wednesday will be a bit of fun with a limited club event, so that means choose only 3 clubs to put in your bag plus your putter. That should lead to some very interesting shots and strategies out on the course on Wednesday.
Saturday is the qualifying round for our 4BBB Handicap Matchplay. The top 8 pairs will qualify for Quarter finals on Sunday with the Semi’s and the Final next weekend, the 29th and 30th. Please make sure you are available for all these dates if you wish to qualify. Those teams who are unable, please write ‘NQ’ on the top of your card. All teams will be eligible for the trophy of the day on Saturday.
Also a reminder that the Lane Cup qualifier is being played on Sunday the 6th June. This is a mixed 4BBB stroke event with the top 8 couples also qualifying for matchplay over the next couple of months. The Lane Cup is an Honour Board event which is sponsored annually by Marg and Garry Adcock in memory of Marg’s parents, Jack and Mona Lane. So now is a great time to get your team organised for our only mixed matchplay event on the golfing calendar.
