Warwick Women’s Golf Notes – 2nd May, 2021 The District Matchplay Championships were held at Clifton Golf Club on 26th and 27th April. Marg Adcock, Melanie McLennan and Yvonne Pinington represented our club. Congratulations to Mel who was runner-up in the Championship Final going down to Marion Stell from Toowoomba Golf Club. Yvonne won the Bronze Division 1 Plate event. Well done ladies. On Wednesday 28th April we had 86 players out on the course for the Crime Stoppers 2 ball Medley Ambrose. Congratulations to all the winners on the day. The winning ladies’ team was Di Macdonald and Vicki Bennet with 71.5 nett. Other winners included Lisa Weatherley and Darrell Bain 70.25 nett and Sam McLennan and Mort Henderson 62.75 nett. Thank you to all sponsors, organisers and players on the day. A good field of women ventured out onto the course on Saturday 1st May to play the Warwick Condamine sponsored May Monthly Medal. This event is always hotly contested, as the winners then qualify to play in the Medal of Medalists later in the year. Melanie McLennan continued her fine form taking out Division 1 with 77 nett, just pipping Kath Devereux who scored 78 nett. Melanie also taking out Division 1 putting with 29 putts. Division 2 was won by Dian Evans with a great 73 nett, with the runner-up being Tub Ingall who had 76 nett. The putting in Division 2 was taken out by Sharron Cooper with only 27 putts. Awesome putting Sharron. Balls in the rundown went to Janine Stewart, Anne Lyons 78, Margaret Adcock 80 and Jill Barnes 81. The Pro Pin was on the 7th with Danielle Seibel collecting 2 balls and Molly Scotney 1 ball. Thanks to Warrego Water Services - Warwick for sponsoring our Labour Day 2 Ball Ambrose. It was wonderful to see 120 players out on the course. Overall winners were Cody Haynes and James Buchner with 60 nett on a count back from Melanie McLennan and Kris McLennan. Michelle Wright and Geoff Hinze 64.5 nett took home the prize for the best mixed team, while Judy Lester and Lyn McKillop 78.5 nett were the best ladies team. Thanks to Brendon & Scott, the grounds staff and volunteers who helped make the day such a success. Saturday 8th May is Pink Day and we will be playing a single stableford. There will be fundraising raffles on the day, with some great prizes including a TV. All proceeds will be donated to Cancer research. There will be prizes for overall winner, runner-up, pins, women and men. So come along and help us raise some money for this worthy cause. Don’t forget to wear something pink! Wednesday 12th May will be the May Mid-Week Medal Single stroke.
