Last Saturday 51 players started in the Danny Lyons Sports Store sponsored single stableford event. The recent trend of low scores continued with Barry Brown Junior from Allora Golf Club winning the event with 38 points on a countback. Playing on a 12 handicap Barry had more points on the back nine to win the countback from Slim Eldridge who also scored a voucher for his excellent effort. The run down saw Shane Mckenzie on 37 win a ball as did Sam McLennan on 36 with Sean Haynes, Dave Speedy and Doug Wilson all recording 35 points. The pro pin on 13 went to Eddie Kemp winning 5 balls while Dave Speedy won 3 on a good day out, Barry Brown Jnr. and Ted King each won 2 balls. The 11th hole pin went to Slim Eldridge while Gary Russell-Sharam won the 16th pin prize. Next Saturday members play in the John Dee monthly medal stroke event and the thanks of the Committee and members goes out to the management of John Dee for their ongoing support. Warrego Water Services are a new sponsor and are on board with the Monday Labour Day holiday event which is a 2 ball ambrose with a shotgun start at 11.30am. Members are reminded that the nominations for the Matchplay championships are now on the board in the clubhouse so all players are encouraged to nominate for this great event. On a sad note, members are disappointed to see the departure of long-time greenkeeper Craig Cox. Craig has been looking after the course and doing a fantastic job at it for many years now and has chosen to move on to another position. Members thank Craig for his outstanding service over the years and wish him all the best for his future endeavours.
