Women - 7/4/2021

Warwick Women’s Golf Notes for the week of 5th April With a reduced field owing to the Covid situation only 16 women took out cards in the Sporters Rose Bowl event last Wednesday. Many thanks once again to the Sporters’ Club here in Warwick who sponsor the women’s event on every 5th Wednesday of the month throughout the year. Jill Barnes had a great round with a score of 35 pts, with Di Macdonald showing good form also bringing home 34 pts to be runner-up. Well played ladies. Jill will now have her name engraved on the prestigious Rose Bowl trophy which has been going since 1953. She also received a beautiful ‘bowl’ as a keepsake and Di accepted a $25 voucher from the Proshop. Very generous trophies thank you Sporters. Six balls were given to us also which were won by Di Johnston 32, Maria Carey 30 on a countback from Helen Olsen, Anne Lyons 29, Joan Burt 28 and Roslyn Darton 27. Other scores were:- T Ingall K Devereux M Young 26, A Payne 25, M Adcock M Kahler 24, V Bennett 23 and L Hamilton. The windy cool conditions on Saturday April 3rd didn’t deter the 12 ladies who took out cards in the Cherry Tree Coffee and Dining stableford. Many thanks Scott for your sponsorship of Warwick Women’s Golf. Returning just one stroke margin to win, Mary Young carded 36 pts ahead of Danielle Seibel with 35. Danielle is continuing her good form which included 5 straight pars to start the back nine, no washes and 84 off the stick. Well played to both ladies. Mary’s score was enhanced with a chip in birdie for 4 pts on the 18th being her first gobble for the year! Rundown balls went to Yvonne Pinington and Gwen Mills with 30, and Ros Darton and Annice Payne with 28. Other scores:- S Hinze 27, M Ots 26, J Barnes 25, L Woodhams T Ingall and L McKillop 20. It was great to welcome Lyn McKillop to our 18 hole competitions. Next Wednesday April 7th is the rescheduled March Mid-Week Medal ladies followed by the April Monthly Medal on Saturday. Those on FaceBook would have seen a great post from our Captain Roslyn which advertised other coming events in April. The District Match Play Championships are being held at Clifton this year and will be held over two days April 26th and 27th. Pink Day at Toowoomba Middle Ridge is on the 29th with visitors welcome to attend. Registrations for these events and our own Open Day on May 18th are in the ladies restrooms. Please remember that a COVID Safe Plan is now operating for golf. There is a new Govt QR scanning code in the ProShop, inside the Clubhouse, and in both the female and male toilets. Please register your attendance through any of these entrances just the once for each day. Playing conditions re not touching the flags and preferring your ball in bunkers still apply.
