Last Saturday members played in the John Dee Monthly Medal event and the Club wishes to acknowledge the ongoing support from John Dee in this event. Your support is greatly appreciated. The winner on the day was Grant Lambley with a 64 nett. Grant hasn't been playing for all that long but is very keen and is often seen playing a practise game with his good friend Andrew Collins so it was a well-earned win Grant and I'm sure it won't be your last. Grant had a shot to spare over Rhys Farrell who had his best ever round of 1 under off the stick for a nett 65 and celebrated like he had won the event so good on you and congratulations to one of the best players in the club in young Rhys. Also on 65 and winning the runner up voucher for Division 1 was Shaun Campbell with a 1 over off the stick so another great round of golf while John Brandon also on 65 rounded out the voucher winners with the Division 2 runner up prize. There was certainly some hot golf played on what was a hot day. Bert Bownds had a 66, while Nick Owens, Peter Millard and Craig Burgess all had 67, Ross Newton having a rare competition game had a good round for a 68, Mal Galloway 69 (threatening to take the mantle for the most consistent golfer off Michael Hoskin) while Neil Moore rounded out the ball run down on 70. The pro pin on 13 saw the hard working Captain Brendan take 5 balls, Peter Farrell 4, Brett Donovan 3, Geoff Hinze 2 while Andrew Collins and Ross Kingston won a ball each. The nearest the pin on the 5th went to Kerrin Delaney while Craig Burgess won the 7th, Rhys Farrell the 9th and Garry Adcock won both the 11th and the 16th. The Opening Day event on Sunday saw a big field of over 80 players due to the great work by Brendan Landrigan so congratulations to Brendan on his work so far as the Captain of the Club. Charlie and Kath Morrison won the day which was a combined stableford event resulting in a few anguished faces in the crowd at presentation. Some players scored very well while their partners not so well but Charlie and Kath put it all together for a good win. Next best were Sam Hinze and Brendan Landrigan. Next Saturday members play in the Secretary's Pen which is a single stroke event sponsored by Hynes Newsagency and the Volkswagon Scramble event which is a 4 ball ambrose is on Sunday with a shotgun start at 10.30am.
