Members must have come to grips with the play it as it lies situation now in play at the Warwick Golf Club following a long period of preferred lie. On Saturday a very good field of 70 players played in the single stableford event and well over half of the field notched up more that 30 points as against the previous week when not nearly half of the field were able to score more than 30 points. The winner on the day was Geoff Hinze scoring 41 points of his low handicap so well done to Geoff who has only recently resumed regular play after a workplace accident where he injured his shoulder. He won by 2 shots from runner up and a voucher winner in Jason Owens who also has been missing in recent months so well done to Jason on his return to form. the ever-consistent Mal Galloway scored 38 points with Shane Scotney next best on 37 along with Brendan Landrigan, Rhys Farrell, Grant Lambley and Drew Costello with Mal Crawford the only 36 to get a run down ball. The pin shots went to Michael Hoskin on the 5th, Brendal Landrigan on the 9th, Mick Payne on 11 and Geoff Hinze on the 16th. The Pro Pin on 13 saw Mick Payne win 5 balls, Mal Crawford 4, Richard Bohm 3, Darren Rabbit 2, and Grant Lambley and Tony Kahler a ball each. The event next Saturday is an SS -v- Par game while there is a Canadian Foursome scheduled for Saturday 30th January which should be a lot of fun for those that haven't played in that type of event previously. Rules are simple and the guys in the Pro Shop or Captain Brendan can help you out there. Also, we'll print them here the Wednesday prior to the event. Don't forget the massive Australia Day 2 ball ambrose on Tuesday 26th January. Sponsored by Neil Carney from Warwick Real Estate this very popular day is booked out on the 12 noon timeslot shotgun start so Captain Brendan and Sam the Pro have arranged for a 7.00am shotgun start to cater for those that have missed a noon timeslot. Congratulations to Brendan in organizing a massive field on the day as he has been working hard to do so and again thanks to Warwick Real Estate for their ongoing support of this popular day over recent years. Aussie paraphernalia is sure to be the fancied dress on the day so get in now for the early start to be a part of the day.
