Golf Notes for October 8th

As Wednesday the 30th was the 5th Wednesday in September, the ladies played a stableford courtesy of the Sporters group.  Winner of the day was a very special result with Marge Burley, who’s late husband Ken, was Sporter’s Patron.  Her brilliant score of 42 points led the field of 30 ladies. Runner up on a count back was Helen Olsen from Ann Tomkins on 40 points.  Balls in the generous rundown went to Ann, Lyn Gibson 38, Michelle Wright, Marg Adcock, Anna Cox 37, Annice Payne, Tun Ingall, Tracey Farrell 36, Melanie McLennan, Ros Darton 35, Di Macdonald and Joy Bowles 34.

Then on Saturday the 3rd, 23 ladies, 15 in Division 1 and 8 in Division2, contested the October monthly medal.  Marg Adcock with a fantastic 68 nett took out Div 1 ahead of Majella Kahler with 74. That’s a great score for Marg off her low handicap which, following this round, reduced to 9.4.  Congratulations Marg, such a wonderful feat! Div 2 winner was Ros Darton, hot off her round of golf on Monday at Surfers Paradise in the Gertrude McLeod Winners Event.  Ros carded a great 72 nett ahead of Tub Ingall with 73.  Marg with 29 putts won the putting trophy on a countback from Anna Cox and Tub won Div 2 putting with 30.  Balls went to Gwen Mills, Janine Stewart, Melanie McLennan 75, Mary Young, Annice Payne 77, Judy Lester 78 and Molly Scotney and Anna Cox 77.

This Saturday we play a stableford on the White Course and thank Style Shoes for their continued support with an over all winner, a winner on each nine as well as the usual ball rundown.  Next Wednesday is also a stableford but on the red course, sponsored by The Coffee Club.

A reminder that the qualifying round for the JD Rowland Foursomes Championships will be held on Saturday the 17th October.  Please try and play prior to 11.30 on this day as we will be inviting all Past Presidents to afternoon tea on the deck at 4pm.  This annual afternoon tea was postponed due to COVID, earlier in the year and we would love to see as many ladies as possible joining together for this annual afternoon tea.
