Occasional Update - 19/8/2020

July  2020

Changes to Restrictions

As from midday on Friday 3rd July, golfers will be permitted to take alcohol onto the course. The Condy will continue to be open for golf on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 11am to 4 pm, with their management currently planning a way forward in line with the relaxed restrictions. More hours of opening may be in the offing. The one person per 4 square metres still applies inside the clubhouse.

Holdups on the course can occur when some groups linger at the bar for too long after the first nine holes. Most ladies’ groups only have a toilet break, a snack and then may be forced to wait for the men’s group to come from the bar. Last Saturday, there were three groups of ladies waiting to hit off while the boys were inside the clubhouse. This is hardly fair to anyone as it slows every other following group.

The luxury of being able to stop for a bite and a drink halfway around the course is not available at a lot of other clubs, so let’s not abuse the privilege that we enjoy at our club.

The committee has agreed that a maximum of 15 minutes is generous enough. Please be guided by that timeline.

It is usually accepted that the low marker in each group, or perhaps the most experienced player in each group, is the member who is responsible for calling a faster group through when there are holdups on the course. The same expectation applies to the time spent at the half-way bar.

And members (ladies and gents), if the group in front of you is playing slower than your group when you get to the 10th tee, and you don’t want to stop, please feel free to ask the forward group if you can play through.

Please see revised opening hours for the Clubhouse.

18th August 2020

Meals at Clubhouse

The Condy advises that they will be opening for meals on this Friday night, 21st from 5.30pm to 8pm. Brendon advises that Friday night raffles for the Juniors (the club has approx. 40 juniors attending weekly clinics and also playing holes on Sundays) will recommence next Friday night, 28th Aug. Members wishing to support the Juniors by buying tickets will be able to do so on any of the golf comp days – tickets will be located near the Covid sign-in location and will work on an honesty system.

Current Opening Hours

Wed       11.30 to 6pm

Fri             2pm to 9pm

Sat           11.30 to 6pm

Sun          11.30 to 4pm

New Handicapping Program

The new OneGolf handicapping/recording program is currently being set up. When all is in place, members will be advised by email of how they can access it. The main component to learn will be the on-line timesheet. Because the program is Cloud  based, you will be able to plan your game without being at the clubhouse (or without contacting the Proshop) by using your smartphone or home computer. It is user friendly so don’t be afraid to check it out when the time comes.

Food (sandwiches, pies etc) will be available on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Members are reminded that, by law, all alcohol must be purchased from the Hawker Road Function centre.

I hope that you have been able to take advantage of the recent beautiful weather and have made use of our great little course over the past couple of weeks.

Happy golfing!
