Last Saturday in the flag event at the Warwick Golf Club, club champion Kris McLennan recorded a first. Not only did Kris win the event with a net 67 but he also had his first ever bogey free round recording 15 pars and 3 birdies. Wee done to you Kris!
It was close at the top with a three way tie but Kris playing off -1 won the countback from Bob Lester and Tony Kahler. Bobby was the runner up winner receiving a sleeve of balls.
The ball run down saw Nick Tomkins on 69, Kerin Delaney, Ted King and Gary Russell-Sharam all on 70. Gary was going very well thankyou until an 8 on the 15 and then followed that up with a double on the 16. Sam McLennan, Grant Lambley, Dave Craggs, Ross Bell, Don Stewart, Shane Scotney, Chris Hynes, Geoff Hinze and Peter Tomkins and had 71 with John Brandon the only 72 to win a ball in the run down.
Next Saturday members will be playing in fours and the event is a club sponsored stableford while the following Saturday will also be a stableford sponsored by Advance Metal Products. Saturday 6th June will see the John Dee monthly medal played for while on Sunday 7th June, the Lane Cup qualifying round will be played. This is a mixed partner event with the top eight to qualify for matchplay. This is the only mixed matchplay event on the calendar so arrange your partners for that day now and remember that time sheets are in operation.
Remember that social distancing still applies with 1.5 metres between people and groups of up to 10 people however, there is to be only one person per buggy unless from the same household. Players should attempt to delay arrival at the tee until close to their tee time to avoid gatherings.
