 Women’s Golf Notes 13/11/19

Last Wednesday we played a single stableford sponsored by KFC. 28 ladies contested the day and not too many scores in the thirties but one that was, was Joan Burt who had a lovely 38 points.  Runner up on another good score was Ellie Casey with 37.  The balls in the rundown went to Annice Payne 35, Mary Young, Anna Cox 34 and Nachcha Craggs 31.  Our graded pin on 13 went to Jill Barnes, Ellie Casey and Janet Davis.  The All In on the 5th also went to Ellie. Mary took two balls in the pro Pin and Judy Lester and Anna one each.  The remainder of the field was, Yvonne Pinington 30, Helen Olsen, Joy Bowles, Di Evans, Judy Lester, Tracey Spinetti 29, Helen Daley, Gwen Porter 28, Judy Stiff, Melanie McLennan. Jean Fysh 27, Janet Davis, Jill Barnes 26, Di Johnston, Di Macdonald, Patti Hemmings, Jan Byrne 25, visitor Maxine Townsend who joined us from Nambucca Heads, Jan Aspinall 24, Zel Crook, Vicki Bennet and Gill Young.

Saturday was a 4 Ball Best Ball Par event, which was brought to us by Big W who generously sponsor an event for us each year.  This game is something we don’t play too much of and it can be tricky to get those pluses on the card.  Two teams came in with great scores of +7 and the winners on a count back were Ros Darton and Helen Olsen from Trish Bell and Vicki Bennett. We had prizes for the teams down to fourth place so Jill Barnes and Anne Lyons on +4 were 3rd and Judy Lester and Tracey Farrell on +3 were 4th. The approach on 13 went to Judy and the graded on 9 went to Maxine Townsend, Trish Bell and Ros Darton.  Judy received 2 balls for the Pro Pin and Liz Cockram and Ellie Casey received one each.  It was lovely to welcome Tracey Farrell and Helen Daley and we hope that they might join us on a more regular basis in the new  year.  Teams that received balls in the rundown were Anna Cox and Tracey Spinetti +2 and Liz Cockram and Danielle Seibel who were square.  Other teams were Gwen Mills and Louise Carey, Yvonne Pinington and Helen Daley, Patti Hemmings and Gill Young, Ellie Casey and Molly Scotney who were all square as well, birthday girl Nachcha Craggs and Maxine Townsend -1 and Wendy Rhea and Di Evans -4.

By now you would have received the program for December along with the flyer for the Christmas Party on the 11th December with 9 holes of fun golf and lunch afterwards on the deck.  Please find a partner and put your names down on the list in the presentation room.  Or just put your name down and the committee will find you a partner.  Please have names in by December 4th.

Also our AGM is not too far away, Sunday the 24th at 1.30pm.  Please come along to this meeting to support our women’s club and have your say on any important issues. There is a list in the presentation room if you would like to add anything to the agenda.

Points for the Winter Cup finish this Saturday. With only three games left to qualify for our Shootout excitement builds as to who the nineteen finalists will be. Wednesday 20th November is the cut-off date and also for the yearly mid week points competition for The Gillam Family Memorial trophy.  Please check your scores on the board.

Today we play a single stableford off the white markers for our monthly Style Shoes day.  Then on Saturday we have a red marker single stableford sponsored by Red Rooster.
