Last Saturday an excellent field of 54 players, considering the morning conditions, contested the John Dee Monthly Medal. On a windy dry dusty afternoon our Patron had no trouble with the conditions at all as Rodney Macdonald carded an excellent 66 nett.
That meant that Rodney won the "B" division of the Monthly Medal and the voucher by two shots from Scott McLennan. The "A" division winner was Kris McLennan who continues to play great golf this time carding 2 under for a nett 68 and a 2 shot victory over cousin Sam McLennan making it a day out for the McLennan family.
It was nice to see Connor Cruice playing in the event and recording a one under off the stick as well. The ball run down saw Peter Balfour collect a ball on 68 along with Don Stewart and Peter Hynes making a rare Saturday appearance both on 69, Mick Banks, Gary Russell-Sharam, Keith Clarke and Mal Galloway all on 70 and Ron Simon on 71.
The pin shots went to Don Stewart on the 5th, Don Warrener on the 7th, Evan Pfeffer on the 9th, Adam Nielson on 11 and Matty Tate on 16.
In a sign of the times, the pro pin sheet literally "blew away" during the day so everybody that entered will receive a credit to their account.
Stoney's Catch of the Day voucher went to Peter Hynes.
The chicken run last Friday saw Gordon McKeen win the day with 19 points followed by Caleb King on 18 with Mick Banks and Ted King receiving balls in the run down.. The pins on 5 and 7 went to Joe Levick and Caleb King respectively.
The event next Saturday is the Malthouse single stableford event and remember that the men's foursome championships are on the following Sunday the 22nd September which will incorporate the Coe Cup event so get your partners sorted for that important event.
