Last weekend was a big one at the Warwick Golf Club with the President's Day on Saturday and the Patron's Day on Sunday.
Two very good fields turned up for both events which is a testament to President Don Stewart and Patron Rodney Macdonald.
The event on Saturday was a single stableford and the winner on a countback with 38 points was hard working committeeman Brendan Landrigan who outpointed Keith Farrell on the back nine to win the countback. Leon Sticklen also had 38 points but missed out on the trophies. Leon scored a ball in the run down as did Matty Tate and John Devitt both on 37, Neville Heard on 36 and Sean Haynes and Duayne Burmeister both on 35 points.
The pin shots went to Kerrin Delaney on the 5th, Leon on the 7th, "Lucky" Scott McLennan on the 9th, Ron Simon on 11 and Matty Tate on the 16th. The pro pin saw Brendan landrigan win 4 balls, Rhys farrell 3, Evan Pfeffer 2 and Eddy Raets, Duayne Burmeister and Kris McLennan a ball each. Another good field contested the mixed 4BBB stableford for the Patrons Trophy and the winners here with an excellent score of 48 points were Slim Eldridge and Danielle Seibel. The score was better than has been required to win in recent weeks but was just enough to get home by a shot from Greg Wallace and Ellie Casey on 47 points. The run down winners were Ken Weeks and Tracey Farrell on 45, Danny and Anne Lyons on 44 and Ken and marge Burley also on 44.
Mens pin shots went to Jay Roberts on the 5th Bobby Lester on the 9th, David Craggs on the 11th and Charlie Morrison on the 16th. The pro pin saw Kerrin Delaney add to his ball tally for the weekend winning 3 balls here from Danny Lyons with a ball and Greg Wallace also with a ball.
The ladies pins went to Judy Lester, Helen Olsen and Ann Lyons on the 5th with Ellie Casey winning the 11th approach. The ladies pro pin saw Lois Wilson win 2 balls, Danielle Seibel and Ellie Casey a ball each.
The club matchplay championships have now been decided with club stroke play champion Kris McLennan taking out the double defeating Geoff Hinze in "A" grade, Slim defeating Doug Rickert in "B" grade and Rod Macdonald getting over the top of Terry Bennett in "C" grade with that match being the closest contest with Terry going down on the 18th.
Congratulations to all three winners.
Next Saturday Southern Downs Ag are providing the trophies for the big Jumpers and Jazz single medley stableford and with a number of visitors in town there should be a big field for the event. Remember that there are prizes for the best dressed buggy and so on so turn out for the festival weekend game.
