In keeping with the recent trend for difficult scoring a nett 69 was the winning score in the John Dee Monthly medal last Saturday.
Sam McLennan was the winner with his 69 nett representing a 76 off the stick and that was good enough to win by a shot from cousin Kris McLennan who shot a par round off the stick and continues to play well.
The "B" grade winner was Evan Pfeffer with a nett 70 from Peter Balfour on nett 72 who also continues to play well.
The run down saw Mal Galloway on 71, Keith Clarke and John Porter on 72 and Matty Tate, Derrick Hewitt and Sam Eaves all on 73.
The pin shots were won by Matty Tate on the 5th, Leon Sticklen on the 7th, Kris McLennan on the 9th, Dave Craggs on the 11th and Sam Eaves on the 16th.
The pro pin on 13 saw Ray Dudley win 3 balls, Kris McLennan 2 and Sam McLennan, Doug Wilson, Keith Clark and Charlie Morrison all win a ball each.
Would anybody that comes across a pin shot sheet and Doug Wilson's name is not on there, please let everybody know. I'd love to have his credit at the pro shop.
Former junior member Corey Lancaster now playing off 11 at the Brisbane Golf Club was a welcome visitor last Saturday recording a nett 76.
The DDGA Championships were held at the club last Sunday and the gross winner on the day was Toowoomba player Anthony Timms with a 70 off the stick. Unfortunately local champ Kris McLennan had his worst round for weeks and did not feature. However, there was some local success with Slim Eldridge winning the "A" grade nett event with a nett 70 and the very underrated Mick Banks was the winner of the "B" grade with a 68 nett.
Incredibly, there was no "B" grade or "C" grade player in the large field that was able to hit the 1st green for 2 leaving A Skinner as the winner of the approach shots on that hole. Thankfully Will Higgins was able to win the "A" grade approach.
There were about a dozen intrepid players that turned out in the chicken run on what was a real dirty day last Friday and Caleb King was the winner with 18 points from Lenny Edwards next best on 17 points.
The run down saw Bert Bownds and Brian Sullivan win balls with their 17 points. It's on again next Friday.
