The much improved Peter Balfour showed the benefits of plenty of practice last Saturday when he was successful in the mens single stableford for the Oak Tree Retirement sponsored event.
The club thanks the management at Oak Tree for their generous support.
Peter had 39 points to win the event by a single shot from runner up Kris McLennan who had 38 points which represents a two under off the stick. The 39 recorded by Peter is the best winning score for a couple of weeks and the course continues to be the winner these days.
The run down saw David Craggs and Geoff Hinze both on 37, Mick Banks on 36 and Ted King and Leon Sticklen on 35.
The pin shots went to Geoff Hinze on the 5th, Jo Levick on 7 and 16, Mick Banks with a great shot on 9 and the returned Captain Tony Kahler on 11. The pro pin on 13 saw visitor Warren Colefax from Murwillumbah win 4 balls, Peter farrell 3, Geoff Hinze 2 and Leon Sticklen a ball.
We also had two other visitors from the Caboolture club with us on the day.
The event next Saturday is the John Dee Monthly Medal which of course is a stroke and the very important DDGA Championships are to be played on the Sunday which is also a stroke event with trophies for net and gross in all three grades so that promises to be a very big day and the course is in good condition for the large number of visitors that we expect to be playing.
Another big up coming event is the 4BBB Handicap Matchplay qualifier Stroke event on Saturday 13th July for trophies supplied by Advance Metal Products so get your partner organized for this excellent match play event. The previously postponed President's Day is now on Saturday 20th July and there is a rare 4BBB stableford MIXED event on that same weekend on Sunday 21st July sponsored by our Patron Rodney Macdonald so we have a few big days coming up at the club.
