Men - 18/6/2019

Last Saturday in perfect conditions members played in the Horse and Jockey Hotel Motel single stableford continuing the long and valued support offered to the Club by this fine establishment.
The winner on the day was Chris Hynes who won very nicely by a comfortable 5 shots from the rest of the field recording 42 points. That represented an excellent 3 over by Chris off the stick putting him right up there with the "big boys". The runner up was Bert Bownds on 37 points on a countback from Adam Byrne playing his first competition game in a long time. Great to see you back Adam and obviously playing well straight away. Shaun Campbell and Caleb King were next best on 36 points.
The chicken run on Friday went to Scott Stretton who defeated Bert Bownds who is showing the benefit of plenty of practice. Run down winners were Al Matthews, Jared Fearby and Judy Lester while the pin on 11 went to Shane Scotney. Allan Matthews won both the 13th and 16th pins so well done to you Al.
The match play championships are getting to the pointy end now with Terry Bennett and Rod Macdonald set to do battle for the "C" grade title. Terry defeated Errol McGrady in his semi 5/4 while Rodney accounted for Ian Stewart 4/3 in their semi final. That should be a very close battle for that championship.
In the "B" grade Doug Rickert accounted for Dave Speedy in their semi 4/3 so Doug is anxiously awaiting the other semi result with Slim Eldridge playing Mick Banks this week.
The "A" grade match will be between Geoff Hinze and the winner of the match between Kris McLennan and Shaun Campbell. Geoff defeated Rhys Farrell 2/1 in a tight semi final.
As previously advised, the President's Day originally set for this Saturday has been deferred until August so on Saturday members will play in a single stableford while next Sunday should see a great field for the popular State of Origin Ambrose Day sponsored by the Warwick Golf Club.  Remember to wear your team colours and be there for an 11.30am shotgun start.
The Condamine Steel Shootout board has recently been updated with Ray Dudley the top scorer at present followed by Adam Neilson, Don Warrener and Charlie Morrison but there is still plenty of opportunity for any new player to be involved as there are many months to go to get your four best scores in for the year and qualify for the final which is always a great day so if you want to be involved, see the pro shop, Tony Kahler or Garry Adcock to pay the $30.00 nomination. See the current standings on the board at the Club.
