Women - 13/5/2019

With perfect Autumn weather 104 players enjoyed playing a two ball ambrose on Monday’s Labour Day holiday. The grandmother and granddaughter combination of Cita Weier and Danielle Seibel had a great score of 68 nett to win the ladies prize. Majella Kahler and Yvonne Pinington came in second with 70.75 and mother and daughter Mel and Eliza McLennan won third prize on a count back with 72 nett. The best mixed team went to Kath and Charlie Morrison. Visitors from Brisbane John and Lyndell Kemp were the runners up.  Congratulations to all winners and a big thank you to our sponsors from Thailand Golf Tours who were very happy with the day. Our money board was also drawn and Chris Hynes was the lucky winner.

Last Wednesday Carole Brandon recorded her best round of the year and won the Secretary’s Pen event with a fantastic 39 stableford points. Gill Young also carded her best 2019 score with 37 points. Congratulations ladies. Gill is now looking forward to seeing her name move into the top nineteen names on the shootout board. Anna Cox, Judy Stiff, Helen Olsen and Jill Barnes all received balls in the rundown. The all in pin on the 13th went to Helen Olsen. The graded in three divisions on the 5th was won by Melanie McLennan, Di Evans and Marge Burley. Melanie put her ball in the hole to win two balls in the pro pin on the 9th and Judy Stiff and Jill Barnes each won a ball also for their approaches. Thank you to our very efficient secretary Marg Adcock for sponsoring the day’s play.

Thank you to Joely, Ann Ellis and Majella for organizing this raffle and to everyone who bought tickets. Today we are playing a single stableford sponsored by Woolworths. On Saturday we play the qualifying round of the 4BBB Handicap Matchplay. Thank you to Danny Lyons for donating the trophies for the day’s play. Don’t forget to mark your cards with NQ if you are not available to play on Sunday in the quarter finals or the semis and finals on the following weekend. This is an honour board event.

Good luck to the ladies playing in the Downs and South West District Federation Fourball which is being held on the Allora course next Monday.

I heard one of our members telling her husband she came in three under on Saturday. One under the tree, one under the bush and one under the water in the dam!
