Women’s Golf Notes for May 1st 2019
It was good to see Gwen Mills back to golf and in the winning circle taking out the single stroke April Mid-Week Medal for Division 1 with 74 nett on a countback from President Judy Lester. Division 2 went to Diane Johnston with 77 nett also on a countback from Gill Young. Enjoy your meal vouchers ladies and many thanks to the RSL Memorial Club for their continued sponsorship of Women’s Golf. Judy’s putter was hot being used only 27 times for the first division putting winner and Gill used only 30 putts in her winning runner-up score for the second division. The all-in approach was won by Melanie McLennan with the graded ones going to Marg Adcock, Marlene Vincent and Lois Wilson. Well done to these girls who are willing to travel to represent the club. Warwick now sits in 3rd position behind City and Cabarlah.
Friendly Societies Pharmacy sponsored the single stableford on Saturday which attracted 20 players. We thank Friendlies for their annual sponsorship to Women’s Golf. Louise Carey had a great game winning with 37pts on a countback from Helen Olsen. Well played ladies. Just one behind on 36 pts were 5 players with the top 4 taking out the rundown ball – Melanie McLennan, Judy Lester, Gwen Mills and Anna Cox. Marg Adcock was the unlucky player to miss out. The all-in approach on the 5th went to Sam Hinze who also took out the A grade one on the 13th. Majella Kahler had an awesome shot out of the bunker to birdie the 13th and take home the B grade approach with Tracey Spinetti winning the C Grade one. On Sunday afternoon a group of 20 players enjoyed 9 holes of 2 ball ambrose social golf. Each pairing had one of our new players. With the laughter and stories being told back in the clubhouse over afternoon tea, everyone had a great time. Thanks to the members who came along to make this such a fun experience for our newbies. We look forward to seeing you all on future occasions.
A reminder that the 4BBB Handicap Matchplay qualifying round is coming up on Election Day. Please add your name to the list in the presentation room for planning making sure no-one gets left out. The conditions of play for this event are also posted on the results board. Labour Day Monday May 6 is a 2 ball ambrose which it would be great to see as many of you as possible playing in. Thailand Golf Tours are sponsoring this event and promoting the ladies only tour of Vietnam in November. We are encouraging women’s and men’s teams on this day with prizes accordingly. Please ring the Proshop if you would like to play and need a partner.
