Men - 10/4/2019
Last Saturday the members played in the monthly medal sponsored by John Dee and the Club extends their appreciation to the management there for their ongoing support.
The Division 1 winner was Adam Nielsen who returned an amazing 62 nett. Adam played a lot of golf as a youngster and only returned to regular golf last season but he showed what a good golfer he can be on Saturday winning by 2 shots from the unlucky Kerrin Delaney.
Kerrin makes a habit of running up with good scores and this was just another case of that as he shot a two over off the stick for his 64 nett. I'm sure his turn will come with that sort of golf.
The ball run down saw Ray Dudley showing the benefit of plenty of recent golf to score a 66 and win a pot voucher as did Shane Scotney with a 69. Peter Millard won a ball with his 69 as did Rhys Farrell and John Pearson (70) and Matty Tate with 71.
The pin shots went to Peter Lewis from Indooroopilly on the 5th, Matty Tate on 7, Charlie Morrison on 9 and Tony Kahler on 16. The pro pin on 13 saw Darrell Bail win 4 balls, Dave Craggs 3, Viv Roser 2 and Ed Kemp 1.
Sunday saw a good field of 80 players enjoy the 2 ball ambrose sponsored by the Owls members and wonderfully promoted by Lynn Lane and congratulations to Lynn on her efforts. The oncology centre at Toowoomba was the benefit of the charity day and the other winners were Wayne Watt coming off his shootout win and Peter Hynes who combined for a one over off the stick and a 62.5 nett.
The womens team winners were Mary Young and Carole Brandon with a 68.5 nett and the mixed winners were Ross and Trish Bell who returned a 64 nett. Ross and Trish generously donated their meat trays back to be auctioned by Stu Wade who did a great job to raise an extra $150 for the charity. Other winners on the day were Don Stewart and Tony Kahler as runners up in the men's competition, Mel McLennan and Nachcha Craggs in the women's competition and Don Warrener and Joely Singleton in the mixed event.
Alex McKinlay generously donated a supply of some very good wine for pins and the winners there were Tony Kahler, Ellie Casey and Jill Barnes, Ray Dudley, Carole Brandon and Mary Young and Mitch Anderson and Mary Young for their long drives.
Next weekend members play in a single stableford.
