The Horse and Jockey Hotel Motel continued their support for the Warwick Golf Club by sponsoring the single stableford event there last Saturday and the Club management thanks the fine establishment for their ongoing support of the Club.
The event attracted a good field considering all of the other things happening around town last Saturday and the best golfer on the day was our regular visitor from the north in Mark Coote. Mark is a member of the club despite living most of the year in North Queensland and has been a great supporter of the club over many years so it was good to see him post a win on Saturday. Mark had 40 points to win the stableford on a countback from Club Captain Tony Kahler who managed 18 back nine points to the 20 posted by mark.
The pair had two shots to spare from new Club trainee pro in Connor Cruice who had 38 points off his 1 handicap representing a one under off the stick. The ball run down saw Connor, Ed Kemp and Dave Speedy on 37, Alex McKinlay on 36 and Simon Macdonald and Chris Hynes both on 35 win a ball while in the pro pin on the 13th Alan Matthews won 4 balls, Neville Heard continued his good form of late winning two balls along with John Brandon and Rhys farrell, Slim Eldridge and Dave Craggs all won one ball.
The other pin shots went to Phil McEvoy with a great shot to a foot on the 5th, Matty Tate on the 7th, Gary Russell-Sharam on the 9th, Rhys Farrell on the 11th and Connor Cruice on the 16th.
The Stoney's Catch of the Day voucher went to Simon Macdonald.
Next Saturday the members play in the Hynes Newsagent sponsored honour board event, the Secretary's Pen which is a stroke event and that should prove a great warm up for the upcoming Club Championships which are now only a few weeks away.
