Women’s Golf Notes 20/2/19
Last Wednesday only 13 of us braved the weather forecast of 39 degrees for the monthly Style Shoes white stableford day. There was a lovely breeze which made the game more bearable. Helen Olsen had no trouble at all scoring 34 points to claim the 18 hole trophy. Michelle Wright scored 17 points on the front nine and Di Johnston had the same on the back nine to take home the runner-up trophies. Vicki Bennett had a great second shot on the 9th hitting the flagstick to leave her with a 550mm putt for a par and the pin shot. The graded pin on the 16th went to Tub Ingall, Helen and Judy Stiff. Judy also played well to take the only two balls up for grabs in the Pro Pin on the 5th. The remainder of the field was, Di and Vicki 33, Michelle 31, Carole Brandon 28, Tub 27, Nachacha Craggs, Judy 26, Jill Barnes 25, Joely Singleton 24, Ann Ellis, Melanie McLennan 23 and Yvonne Pinington. Many thanks to Melanie of Style Shoes for her generous sponsorship of this monthly event.
Then on Saturday our numbers were back up again with a great field of 30 players, playing in the Coorey’s Drapery sponsored event. Sam Hinze had a terrific par round scoring 39 points which reduced her handicap to 2.3, her lowest ever! Congratulations Sam that’s lovely golf and a wonderful achievement. Hot on Sam’s heels was Carole Brandon who scored 38 points. Good scoring ladies. The approach on 13 went to Joely Singleton and the graded approach on 5 went to Judy Lester, Justine Washbourne and Tracey Spinetti. Danielle Seibel took two balls in the Pro Pin and one each went to Sam, our visitor Cheryl Sternberg and Justine. It was lovely to welcome back our past club champion, Cheryl Sternberg from Laidley for the day. Cheryl with 33 points received a ball in the rundown along with Tracey on 34, Ellie Casey 33 and Judy Stiff 32. The other scores were, Justine, Joely, Trish Roberts 32, Helen Olsen, Vicki Bennett, Zel Crook, Gill Young 31, Tub Ingall, Danielle, Anna Cox 30, Majella Kahler, Anne Ellis, Anne Lyons, Di Evans, Annice Payne 29, Jill Barnes, Ros Darton 28, Mary Young 27, Marlene Vincent, Marg Adcock, Judy Lester 26, Donna Keogh 25, Nachcha Craggs 24, Yvonne Pinington 23. Danielle was closest in the 11th hole ProPin claiming 2 balls with Sam, Cheryl and Justine taking one ball each.
Today we play a single stableford kindly sponsored by The Cherry Tree Coffee and Dining whom we thank for their generous support again this year. Then on Saturday we have our Aggregate Stableford day sponsored by Country Smiles Denture and Mouthguard Clinic. So far we have 56 ladies registered for the event. If you haven’t got your name down and would like to play, please phone Mary or Judy and they will be able to put you in a team. After Wednesday groups and tee times will be confirmed and sent to all players by email. We will be having afternoon tea from 4.30 so if you are playing early feel free to come back up to the clubhouse for the presentations and afternoon tea together. Looking forward to seeing everyone then.
