MEMBER’S COMPETITIONS & CONDITIONS OF PLAY

As from Saturday 23rd February 2019 the local rule for out of bounds and lost ball will be abandoned due to inconsistencies and confusion on where take the penalty drop. This means that if you suspect that your ball may be  out of bounds or lost then a nominated provisional ball must be played from where the original shot was played for a penalty of 1 stroke. (stroke and distance) Rule 18.2

Please note that a local rule of Maximum Score of 10 strokes per hole is in play in all competitions with the exemption of Honour Board events where this does not apply. e.g. Secretary’s Pen (this Saturday for men), Club Championships, etc.

The Rules of Golf and Local Rules are the rules of golf. The Match Committee is the sole arbiter in all disputes.
The program is subject to alterations by the Match Committee and they reserve the right to reallocate any event or play off at their discretion.
On any day members are considered to have read the notices, local rules, conditions of play etc before commencing play.
Financial members of reciprocal clubs may compete in all club events except Monthly Medal, Mid-Week Brooch, Shoot-Out and Honour Board events. Financial members of other recognised golf clubs can win the trophy of the day and may compete in the ball run down and pins shots only. Production of the Golf Link card may be requested.
Any competitor wishing to enter a protest in connection with a match shall do so in writing addressed to the Match Committee and bring it to the Committee’s attention without delay.
Players must submit the prescribed competition fee and enter their names at the Pro shop before commencing play unless alternative arrangements have been approved by the Committee.
Players MUST enter ALL score cards (signed) for handicapping as soon as practicable after completion of their round. Failure to do so will result in the round being recorded as “No Score – Not Approved”. When five such entries are recorded a player’s handicap will revert to a Provisional handicap making him/her ineligible to enter competitions requiring a GA handicap.
Ties in any event, unless otherwise stated, will be decided by the count back system.

 

MEN’S MAJOR EVENTS

The Club Championships will be held in four divisions over 72 holes of gross stroke rounds on Sat/Sun 9-10th March 2019 and Sat/Sun16-17th March 2019. Players will remain in that grade in which they nominate. The leading eight players in each grade must play in the seeded draw in the final round. In the event of a tie in any division after 72 holes a sudden death play-off will determine the winner. Playoff will commence from the first hole until a winner is determined. The divisions are graded by GA handicap as at 9/03/19 as follows:

12.4 or less    A Grade

12.5 to 19.4    B Grade

19.5 to 36.4    C Grade

 

Veterans’ Championships: Players 55 yrs and over as at 9/03/19 will be eligible for the Veterans’ Championships. The Veterans’ winner may also win a divisional championship.

 

Club Champion: The member returning the best gross score over 72 holes.

 

CLUB MATCHPLAY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Nominations in all grades will open on Sat 27th April and close on 11th May. A seeded draw in three grades will be done, using the GA handicaps shown above, and posted on 12th May. Matches are to be played on or before the following dates: round 1: Sun 26th May; round 2: Sun 9th June; round 3: Sat 22th June. The final in each grade will be played over 18 holes on or before Sun 14th July. In the event of a tie after 18 holes a sudden death playoff will be held from the first hole and continuing until a winner is determined.

 

 

 

 

FOURSOME CHAMPIONSHIP

The 36 hole foursome gross event will be held on Sunday 22nd September. Partners to play alternate shots on each hole until the ball is holed. The tee-off order of play must be reversed after 18 holes. In the event of a tie a sudden death play-off will be held commencing on the first hole and continuing until a winner is determined.

 

 

COE CUP

The 36 hole nett foursome event will be played in conjunction with the Foursome Championship on Sun 22nd September. In the event of a tie a count back will be used to determine the winner.

 

4BBB HANDICAP MATCHPLAY

A 36 hole 4BBB Stoke qualifying round will be played on Sat 13th July with the top eight nett pairs qualifying for Handicap Matchplay to be played on or before the following dates: quarter finals Sun 4th August, semi- finals Sat 24th August and the final Sun 15th September. Handicap at qualifying dates to be used in all finals. In the event of a tied match after 36 holes a sudden death play-off will be held commencing from the first hole and continuing until a winner is determined. Handicap strokes to apply in the event of a playoff.

 

GRAY CUP – SINGLE HANDICAP MATCHPLAY

An 18 hole qualifying stoke round will be held on Sat 5th October. The top eight nett scores will qualify for Handicap Matchplay. Matchplay games must be held on or before the following dates: Sun 19th October, semi- finals: Sun 3rd November and the final Sun 17th November. Handicap at qualifying dates to be used in all finals. In the event of a tied match after 18 holes a sudden death play-off will be held commencing on the first hole and continuing until a winner is determined. Handicap strokes to apply in the event of a playoff.

 

MIXED FOURSOME CHAMPIONSHIP

The 36 hole mixed foursome gross championships will be held on 4th August. Partners to play alternate shots on each hole until the ball is holed. Women will play off the white tees and the order of play must be reversed after 18 holes. In the event of a tie after 36 holes of stroke-play a sudden death play-off will be held commencing on the first hole and continuing until a winner is determined.

 

LANE CUP 4BBB MIXED HANDICAP MATCHPLAY

The mixed 18 hole 4BBB stroke qualifying round will be held on Sun 6th October with the best eight mixed nett scores to qualify for handicap matchplay to be played on or before the following dates: quarter finals Sun 20th October, semi- finals Sun 3rd November and final Sun 17th November. Women will play from the red tees using the women’s match index and men will use the men’s match index playing from the blue tees. Current handicaps will be used. In their event of a tied match after 18 holes a sudden death play-off will be held commencing on the first hole and continuing until a winner is determined.
