Men - 14/6/2022

The John Dee Monthly medal stroke round for June was played last Saturday and the clear winner on the day was Jessie Ollerton. Jessie played off 14 and returned a nett 66 round which was 2 shots clear of Redland Bay visitor Neil Mitchell playing off 11. Trevor Davies showed he is well prepared for his big western trip this week with a good round of 69 nett. Two players returned 71 nett - they being Wayne Walters following up his good win last Wednesday and Dion Galloway. Again, the scores reflected how difficult the course is playing at present when over half of the field returned scores in the nett 80's. We had a dozen players in the field from Redland Bay with visitors also from Belmont, Nudgee and Tin Can Bay. Pin prizes and run down ball are not available at time of print unfortunately. We have a very big day next Saturday with the qualifying round of the 4BBB handicap Matchplay event. Top eight nett pairs qualify for the matchplay section which of course is off handicaps with the low marker going to zero and all other players deduct the low markers handicap from their own to calculate how many strokes each player receives. Handicaps used on qualifying date are to be used in all matches in the playoffs. First round playoff is to be completed on or before Sunday the 3rd July with the semi finals to be played on or before the Sunday 17th July and the finals on or before Sunday 7th August. Another upcoming event to note is the State of Origin Ambrose event on Sunday 26th June sponsored by Elders Insurance. This should be a great day with the football being played in Perth that evening.
