Last Saturday 53 members played in the John Dee monthly medal stroke event on a great course and a beautiful day.
Surprisingly, the scores were not good with nobody in the field able to play to their handicap.
The best on the day was 12 marker Daniel Bowles who had a nett 70 to win the day and the Division "A" section. Daniel won on a countback from scratch marker Kris McLennan who had a one over 70 and was the Division "A" runner up. Dave Speedy was the Division "B" winner with a nett 71 by a shot from runner up Phil Economidis.
The ball rundown saw Tim Sutton and Sean Haynes both on 71 with Trevor Rock, Wayne Watt and Doug Wilson all on 72.
The Pro Pin on 13 went to Shaun Campbell winning 5 balls with David Brady winning 4, Tim Sutton 3 and Doug Wilson 2balls.
Tim Sutton won the NTP on the 5th and the 16th with Kris McLennan winning the 7th, Trevor Davis the 9th and Don Warrener the 11th.
It was good to see new greenkeeper Shane McDonell play in the competition on Saturday. Shane got a close up look at his new course shooting a nett 79 off his 16 handicap. Say "Hi" to Shane when you meet him and the club wishes Shane and his family all of the best in their new location in Warwick.
On Sunday a good field contested the qualifying round of the mixed 4 ball stroke event, the Lane Cup.
The winners on the day were Helen Olsen and Mick Banks with a 63 nett. Helen has been in good form of late but credited this win to the excellent play of Mick who apparently played his best game in a long time. Well done to each player.
They won by a shot from defending champions Danielle Seibel and Slim Eldridge.
The playoff games for the first round see Helen Olsen and Mick Banks play Maria and Greg Carey. Greg was having his first game back in competition following knee surgery so well done to both there. Danielle and Slim play number 7 qualifiers Marg Adcock and Ian Stewart. Number 3 Vicki and Terry Bennett play number 6 Vonnie Pinington and Keith Farrell. Number 4 Donna Keogh and Brendan Landrigan play number 5 Janine Stewart and Garry Adcock. These matches are to be completed on or before Sunday 27th June. Good luck to all players.
