Women - 27/5/2021

Womens’ Golf Notes 24/5/21 Last Tuesday with a field of 83 we hosted our annual Ladies Open Day. The course was presented beautifully and so many of our visitors commented on this throughout the day. The best overall nett of the day went to Tub Ingall on a count back from Vicki Bennett with 71. Anna Cox took out best nett in division 1 with 72, Sam Hinze was Best Gross in division 1 with an 80. Best nett runner-ups in division 3 and 4 were Yvonne Pinington, 73 and Judy Stiff 77. Melanie McLennan took out the stableford prize in division 1 with 30 points and Trish Bell with 32 took division 3. Melanie also had the longest drive in division 1 on the 4th hole. Vicki won the graded approach on hole 8. Yvonne won the All In approach on the 13th and Judy Stiff along with two other lady visitors birdied the 16th to win the prize there. Overall the day was a huge success. Thank you to all our ladies for welcoming our visitors from around the district and beyond. The committee did a wonderful job under guidance by our captain Ros who invested a lot of hours into making sure everything ran smoothly. The prizes looked wonderful and thank you to everyone who contributed to the raffle prizes. They sure were a treat if you were lucky enough to win one! After the successful day before, only 5 lades took to the course for a fun, limited club event. It was noted that if our Open Day was limited to 3 clubs and a putter, scores would have been much better for some. Anne Lyons with 33 pints was the best in the group, closely followed by Helen Olsen and Di Johnston with 31. Jill Barnes and Melanie McLennan didn’t quite get to their scores of Tuesday though neither were prepared to blame their choice of clubs. Saturday was the qualifying round for our 4BBB Handicap Matchplay. 10 pairs battled it out for the trophy of the day courtesy of Danny Lyons Sports. Thank you to Anne and Danny. The winners on a 3 way count back were Di Evans and Ellie Casey from Di Macdonald and Yvonne Pinington and Marg Adcock and Jill Barnes all with great 65 netts. With only 20 players in the field Di and Ellie won the sponsors trophy and Di and Yvonne received 2 balls each for runner up. Marg and Jill also received 1 ball each. Other scores were, Tub Ingall and Trish Roberts 66, Mary Young and Melanie McLennan 69, Annice Payne and Michelle Wright, Di Johnston and Janine Stewart 70, Liz Cockram and Danielle Seibel 71 and Helen Olsen and Vicki Bennet 73. Unfortunately, due to a scoring mishap, Judy Lester and Anne Lyons’ card could not be accepted. So with 7 pairs eligible for qualifying, Di and Ellie had a bye in the quarter finals on Sunday and go straight through to the semis next Saturday. The games on Sunday and their results were as follows, Liz and Danielle defeated Marg and Jill 4/3, Helen and Vicki won against Di and Yvonne 5/4 and Tub and Trish beat Michelle and Annice 5/4. That means on Saturday, Di and Ellie play Tub and Trish and Helen and Vicki play Liz and Danielle. Good luck ladies. Wednesday the 26th we play an 18 hole single stableford thanks to the Coffee Club or if 9 holes is more suited there will be a 9 hole stableford event as well. Please place your names on the timesheet for either of these games. Saturday will be the semi finals of the matchplay and for everyone else there is a single stableford sponsored by Sam Eaves Pro Shop.
