Fifty four players teed off in the John Dee monthly medal event at the Warwick Golf Club last Saturday.
The course is in amazing condition at present with the greens running fairly quickly and the fairways fantastic. This was confirmed by all and sundry that played in the recent trainees pro am with lots of positive comments from the players and officials attached to that tournament. Congratulations to greenkeeper Craig and all of his staff and helpers.
The medal winner in division "A" was Slim Eldridge who recorded a 68 nett which was 4 in front of that divisional runner up Shaun Campbell.
The division "B" winner and competition winner on the day was Ray Dudley who had an excellent round recording a nett 66 to win that division by a single shot from Phil McEvoy with both of those players recording their best rounds for many weeks.
The ball run down saw William Martin on 68, Jon Pearson and Peter Millard on 70, Neil Moore and Darren Rabbit on 71 and the only 72 to score a ball was that good golfer Eamon Cockram.
Ray Dudley hit a great shot to the 5th hole which won him that pin and no doubt helped in the overall win as well while Eddie Kemp won the 7th, Kris McLennan the 9th and the 16th while Trevor Rock was the 11th.
The pro pin on the 13th saw Shane Reid win 4 balls, Allan Matthews and Charlie Morrison 3 balls and Peter Farrell 2 balls.
The competition next Saturday is a single stableford event.
The greens staff and helpers have been busy prior to you reading these notes as the greens were renovated on Monday as is the case with all clubs at this time of the year but will be back better than ever as soon as possible.
The DDGA championships are to be held at City Golf Club in Toowoomba on the 5th December so members may be interested in playing in these graded championships with three grades plus senioirs and super seniors grades also being contested. More details are posted on the club noticeboard.
