Last Wednesday, with a preponderance of shorted members welcoming in Spring, an excellent field of 71 golfers teed off in the Bells Butchery trophy for September. Winner on the day, with 37 points on a countback from runner up Sam McLennan, was Eddie Raets off his 17 handicap.
Ball rundown: There was a four way countback for the start of the rundown, with Daffy Hynes, Stu Wade Terry Bennett and Darrell Bain, all finishing on 36 points, followed up by King of the Kids Brendan Landrigan on 36 and Kerrin Delaney on 35 points.
With the easing of restrictions advice from GQ, the Sporters Nearest the Pins competition has resumed. 5th Hole Winner Ian Skillen, Darrell Bain on 7th, Danny Lyons on 9thand Mike Hoskin on 16th. The pro-shop sponsored NTP results for 11th saw Doug Rickert 4 balls, Clive Pulley 2 and Brendon Landrigan 1 ball. 13th hole saw Sam McLennan with 4 balls, followed by Kerrin Delaney 3, Mal Galloway 2 and our fanatical Tigers supporter Slim Eldridge 1 ball.
This Wednesday 16/9/20 we play in the Warwick Hotel trophy, and the following week in the Betta Home Living trophy.
All Sporters members are urged to sign up for the Charity 2 ball ambrose event on Sunday 25 September, sponsored by Elders Insurance and the Greenkeeper Staff, with all proceeds directed to helping out our popular bar manager Nathan Bell. The event is a short-gun start at 11.30am, so get your name on the time sheet, using either our new online book system or contact the pro shop if computationally challenged.
And finally, our golf thought for the week; ‘Friends are like therapists you can drink with!’
