Changes to Restrictions
As from midday on Friday 3rd July, golfers will be permitted to take alcohol onto the course. The Condy will continue to be open for golf on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 11am to 4 pm, with their management currently planning a way forward in line with the relaxed restrictions. More hours of opening may be in the offing. The one person per 4 square metres still applies inside the clubhouse.
SLOW PLAY (continued) HALF-WAY HOLDUPS
Holdups on the course can occur when some groups linger at the bar for too long after the first nine holes. Most ladies’ groups only have a toilet break, a snack and then may be forced to wait for the men’s group to come from the bar. Last Saturday, there were three groups of ladies waiting to hit off while the boys were inside the clubhouse. This is hardly fair to anyone as it slows every other following group.
The luxury of being able to stop for a bite and a drink halfway around the course is not available at a lot of other clubs, so let’s not abuse the privilege that we enjoy at our club.
The committee has agreed that a maximum of 15 minutes is generous enough. Please be guided by that timeline.
It is usually accepted that the low marker in each group, or perhaps the most experienced player in each group, is the member who is responsible for calling a faster group through when there are holdups on the course. The same expectation applies to the time spent at the half-way bar.
And members (ladies and gents), if the group in front of you is playing slower than your group when you get to the 10th tee, and you don’t want to stop, please feel free to ask the forward group if you can play through.
