Women’s Golf Notes 4/12/19

Wednesday the 27th a small field of 14 ladies played in the Cafe Jacquis sponsored single stableford event.  It was a close contest with Joan Burt just pipping Joy Bowles at the post both with lovely scores of 33 points. Joan received a voucher from Cafe Jacquis and due to the field size, Joy received 2 balls being runner-up.  The graded approach on the 5th went to Mary Young, Helen Olsen and Joy. The graded on 13 went to Janine Stewart and the Pro Pin of 2 balls went to Di Evans. There were only two balls in the rundown and these went to Janine Stewart 32 and Di Johnston 30.  Other scores were Jean Fysh also 30, Mary Young 29, Di Evans, Majella Kahler 28, Yvonne Pinington 27, Jill Barnes, Vicki Bennett 25, Helen Olsen 23, Jan Byrne 22 and Ann Ellis 19.

19 ladies braved another hot day on Saturday playing a stableford with thanks to Lara Farrell Hair Studio.  Di Evans, or as quoted by Di, an imposter playing as Di Evans, had a terrific score of 39 points to take home the lovely gift pack from Lara. Annice Payne also had a great game and received 2 balls as runner up with 38 points.  The approach on 7 went to Trish Bell after hitting the green and the graded on 11 went to Melanie McLennan, Annice and Ros Darton. The Pro Pin on 5 went to Trish Roberts 2 balls and Mary Young and Melanie McLennan 1 each.  Just a note that the top 4 players today can never be accused of watching their handicaps before the shootout. All 4 ladies lost a stroke after handicapping and the remaining 15 ladies in the shootout field really appreciate that! Other scores for Saturday were, Trish Bell 37, Ros Darton 36, Ellie Casey, Joely Singleton 35, Lois Wilson 32, Yvonne Pinington, Majella Kahler 31, Molly Scotney 29, Jill Barnes, Mary Young 28, Helen Olsen, Melanie McLennan, Trish Roberts, Anne Lyons 27, Judy Lester Nachcha Craggs 26, Danielle Seibel 23.

As mentioned in previous weeks notes, our Christmas break up party is on Wednesday the 11th.  Please put your name on the list in the presentation room and bring along a gift to the value of $10 for our party. Golf and lunch is $30 or lunch only is $25. Please pay on the day. The final trophy winners for the various yearly events have been calculated and the results are surprising. Come along as you could be a winner! Many thanks to Sporters for quenching our thirst at lunch with bottles of wine. Golf will commence at 9.30 followed by lunch at 12.30. Please be there by 9am to get organized for a shot gun start on the back nine with carts, walking gear and meet fellow group members etc.

A busy week of golf this week with the final Style Shoes sponsored white stableford day for the year today, followed by our Medal of Medalists on Saturday.  Even if you have not qualified for this Honour Board event, please come along as there will be a trophy of the day of which the Medal winner will not be eligible for. Then on Sunday 19 ladies will contest the Sudz Warwick Shootout.  Please be at the clubhouse at 8.30 for presentation of shirts by Vicki and Terry from Sudz with hit off, following the men’s event, at 9am. Also of course spectators are more than welcome as it’s always such a fun day of golf to follow. Good luck to all and hoping everyone has been practicing their chipping as this will often determine your fate.
